1 – You increase the risk of disease
Sitting increases the risk of heart disease, diabetes, stroke, high blood pressure and high cholesterol.
2 – You may not want to move anymore
The effects of sitting too long are difficult to counteract even with exercise.
3 – You risk weight gain
You watch TV or surf the web for hours on end… You increase the risk of being overweight or becoming obese.
4 – Your anxiety may increase
Activities alone in front of a screen lead to isolation and can disrupt your sleep and increase your anxiety.
5 – Your back can suffer
Sitting puts enormous pressure on your back muscles, neck and spine. This is even worse when your chair is not adapted.
Even if your job requires you to sit for long periods of time, try taking breaks, walking and stretching. You can also adapt your office by choosing progressive furniture.
And as soon as you can, go for a walk outside.
